There have been a LOT of things that kept me from getting my site updated in a timely fashion. There continue to be a few parts of the site that are out-of-date, but the reality is I have too many other things to do...
Leopard (12-IO-1) which bloomed for the first time last year, continued to do very well as you will see below. It would be nice if it held it's 'orange' colour, but the fact it fades adds another dimension to the flowers. I have very high hopes for it; I just wish it didn't take 12+ years to build up the stock to the point where initial sales can begin.
I was pleasently surprised when "09 in 2015" bloomed. This gem was clearly missed when I shifted all of the 2009 hybrids to make space for 2015 seed. I quite like it. Do I like it more than Smile (03-CC-3)? In some ways yes. But let's see how well it does over the next couple of years. It's a bit like saying do you have a favourite child. There is no "favourite"; they truly are each unique / special in their own way.
13-LD-1 is interestingly different. It's on the small side. The key though, is to (hopefully) every year create something special and that expands the range of what is possible. Doing so means my efforts were all worth while.
I have been wondering what it would be like to have a white Reticulata with cherry accents. Most whites have blue accents, and a portion have green accents (which is a mix of yellow and blue). All I need to do so-to-speak, is take 12-KE-5 and turn off it's yellow...
Well amazingly, that's exactly what's happened with 13-LD-1. It isn't quite what I was picturing - which is to say there is room for further improvement. 12-CV-1 and 12-GI-1 are also trending towards white with cherry accents.
At the beginning of August I spoke to both the Berkshire chapter and the Connecticut chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society. In mid September I will be speaking to The Garden Club of Montreal.

Where to Buy (2018 & 2019)
Large-scale sales of a few of my hybrids are under way. It takes over 12 years to multiply 1 bulb to 30,000. It would be nice if some of the amazing 2016 and 2017 hybrids were available now, but you have to be patient -- there was only 1 flower of each variety in the whole world in those years. In the meantime there are many amazing hybrids available now, such as Eye Catcher, Sea Breeze, White Caucasus, etc., with many more to come. In coming years you can look forward to: Holland Glory / Holland's Glorie, Lilac Beauty, Wow, It's Magic, Pièce de Résistance, and more.
New for 2018 is On Cloud Nine
Reticulatas are a welcome pick-me-up to the end of Winter / start of Spring, blooming right as the snow disappears. Even better yet, you can enjoy a small pot indoors while snow swirls around outside, reminding you of all the wonderful things that will soon be blooming outdoors.
